President Bola Tinubu has given the Super Falcons generous gifts after they won the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in a very impressive way. The President welcomed the team to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday to celebrate their hard-fought victory and thank them for their service to the country.

The players proudly gave the WAFCON trophy to the President during the reception, which was also attended by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. President Tinubu thanked them for their dedication, strength, and the pride they brought to the country through their performance. Tinubu said that each member of the team would get $100,000 (in naira) as a thank-you for their hard work. The technical crew members, totalling 11 staff members also got $50,000. Moreso, President Tinubu gave the team national honors by naming each player and crew member an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). The President gave all the players in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate three-bedroom apartments as a sign of his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerian athletes.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq took part in the celebration and also gave each player a separate cash prize of ₦10 million. Everyone praised his gesture as a sign of national unity and shared pride in the Falcons’ win. President Tinubu talked to the team and the guests at the event about how the Super Falcons’ success would have a bigger effect on the world.

He said that their win was not only a sporting achievement, but it also inspired millions of Nigerians, especially young girls all over the country. He said that the team had shown that any dream can come true if you work hard and believe in yourself. “You’ve sparked hope in every Nigerian heart,” the President said. “Many girls all over the country can now see that their dreams are real and possible. You have made us all proud. Tinubu also said how deeply he had been moved by their journey to victory, saying that their bravery and determination had even inspired him.

The President ended his speech by promising the team that he would keep praying for them. “The Nigerian spirit is strong and tough. I will keep you in my prayers. He said, “God bless you all.” The party ended on a high note, with everyone feeling proud and happy to be from the same country. The awards and recognition are some of the biggest honors the women’s national team has ever received.
