He is the world’s first and only Board-Certified Interventional Cardio-Nephrologist, which means he is an expert in both cardiology and nephrology (heart and kidney). His rise from a humble beginning to becoming a world-famous doctor shows how dedicated he is, how smart he is, and how much his upbringing shaped him. Dr. Badero works in New York and has been named one of the best interventional cardiologists in the US by a well-known medical rating group. Olurotimi was born about 54 years ago. He was his father’s closest child and was always with him, learning from his father’s great knowledge. During their time together, his father taught him things that would last a lifetime. Olurotimi wanted to be an engineer at first, but his career as a doctor shows how God guided him and how his father influenced him. His father talked to him for an hour in private and convinced him to go into medicine. His father told him that this path would lead to something amazing and a rare success if he followed his destiny.

Dr. Olurotimi John Badero was the seventh of nine children born to the late Chief Eliab Olufemi Badero and Mrs. Stella Taiwo Badero in Lagos, Nigeria. He had a lot of problems when he was young. When he was only four years old, a very bad case of measles almost killed him. He lost his younger sister, Olufunmilayo Abosede Badero, to bronchopneumonia when she was only eleven months old.

He had to deal with another terrible loss while he was studying medicine. While Olurotimi was taking his last medical school exams, his younger brother and closest sibling, Peter Olanrewaju Badero, died from sickle cell disease. Dr. Badero had just finished his last exams when he found out that his brother had died. He was on his way to tell his family the good news when he got into a serious car accident that almost killed him. He got home that night despite his injuries, only to learn that his brother had died. He never got to celebrate his amazing achievement of becoming a doctor.

Dr. Badero’s drive for excellence is clear from the fact that he skipped both fourth and sixth grades in school. In a National Science Quiz Competition, he was named the best overall student in Nigeria. He has done four fellowships and focused on seven different areas of medicine, which is a lot of education. One of these achievements is a prestigious fellowship at the Yale University program in Bridgeport, where he graduated with honors in interventional cardiology and got a certificate of achievement for doing such a great job. Dr. Badero’s work history shows that he is always dedicated to doing things well.

Before moving to the United States, Dr. Badero went to medical school at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He then did a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He then went on to do a two-year fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at the highly regarded Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Badero then went back to SUNY Downstate Medical Center to do a three-year fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine. He was in another car accident that almost killed him during his first year as a cardiology trainee. After being hit from behind by a truck, his car hung dangerously over the rails of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and almost fell into the sea below.

He was accepted into the Yale University School of Medicine, Bridgeport Program after finishing a prestigious Cardiology Fellowship. There, he finished his fellowships in Peripheral Vascular Intervention and Invasive & Interventional Cardiology. He got a certificate of achievement for outstanding performance in these fellowships because he did so well.

Dr. Badero has won many awards at the local, national, and international levels. The US government has honored him with a Congressional award for his outstanding medical career and service to humanity. Dr. Badero has written a number of articles that have been peer-reviewed and is on the editorial boards of many well-known scientific journals from around the world. Additionally, he has contributed as a reviewer for the American College of Physicians’ Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) and the National Kidney Foundation’s continuing medical education (CME) programs.
