Rasheedat Ajibade won the best player at WAFCON 2024, and Nnadozie won the best goalkeeper.
Two of Nigeria’s standout performers, Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie, received top individual honours at the tournament. Ajibade, the Super Falcons’ captain and driving force, was named Best Player of the Tournament following a string of outstanding performances that powered Nigeria to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
The 25-year-old Atletico Madrid forward scored one goal and set up two others.

She was also the driving force of the Nigerian team, thanks to her versatility and ability to influence the game from multiple positions.
Ajibade, who was known as “the girl with the blue hair,” brought more than just style and skill to Morocco. She brought steadiness, strength, and a new level of leadership.
Rasheedat Ajibade was named Player of the Match three consecutive times — against Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa — during the tournament. Hailing from Lagos, Ajibade began her WAFCON journey in 2018, playing a key role in Nigeria’s title win that year. Since then, she has netted 20 goals for the national team and continues to evolve in her role on the pitch.
She selflessly stepped into the midfield during this year’s tournament to connect plays and open up more attacking chances for her team.
This worked especially well in the final when she handed the penalty responsibilities to Esther Okoronkwo, demonstrating both leadership and composure.
Later on, Ajibade’s intelligent run created the space for Okoronkwo to assist the winning goal.
Chiamaka Nnadozie, the ever-reliable goalkeeper and one of Africa’s finest shot-stoppers, was also honoured as the Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
The Paris FC star made a number of great saves that kept Nigeria in the game during tense moments.
Nnadozie’s best performances obviously contributed immensely to Nigeria’s success. She gave the Super Falcons the confidence and stability they needed in the toughest times by being calm and firmly in charge of her backline with her great reflexes.
But Nigeria’s story in Morocco was about more than just individual brilliance. The team also clinched the Fair Play Award — a powerful reminder of their discipline and integrity they carried throughout the tournament.
