MTN Nigeria Rewards Victorious Super Falcons With ₦150 Million
On July 31, The Super Falcons were hosted at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, following their triumphant campaign at the just concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Nigerian Women’s football team, under the tactical guidance of coach Justine Madugu, was two goals down against the host country Morocco, before a dramatic turnaround to claim a historic 3-2 victory.
The event didn’t just grace heartfelt moments of emotions but it also had moments of gratitude and national pride. The host of the occasion MTN Nigeria, gifted the Super Falcons with a cash reward of N150 million as a way to celebrate their historical 10th WAFCON title.
The grand also had major guests such as: President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Secretary General of the NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MTN executives, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria as well as passionate supporters of the Super Falcons.
Karl Toriola, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria praised the Ladies. She described them as a symbol of hope and national pride.
Toriola went further stating that the celebration is all about resilience, courage and pride the victory brought to the nation.
The Super Falcons’ team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality, support and adoration the team has been enjoying since their historical title win, noting that these would reignite their desire to strive for more success and excellence.
She also described the support from President Tinubu and the First Lady as powerful motivations and a life-changing moment for the team.
“We feel honoured and inspired to do more”
Speaking on behalf of the team, she expressed desires to keep raising the Nigerian flag on high stages.
“Winning this title is special, but we’re hungry for global success. We know what’s at stake, and we hope for continuous support to help us raise the Nigerian flag high at the world stage.”
