Lagos Faces Power Disruption as TCN Launches Transmission Upgrade

Parts of the metropolitan city of Lagos State will experience daily intermittent blackout, starting from Monday July 28 to August 21, 2025, as essential maintenance will be done on one of the state’s major transmission networks, by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The planned maintenance was announced by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on a customer notice, on Friday 25, 2025, stating that the power supply will be unstable in some areas of Lagos state.

Residents have been updated that, the maintenance is scheduled to carry out between the hours of 8:00 a.m and 5:00 p.m., everyday within the planned days.

EKEDC on the public notice has also clarified that, the power outage to be experienced which is as a result of operational upgrade on the high-voltage Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, is an essential part of a broader efforts to ensure stability in electricity delivery across key areas of the city.

Lagosians have been advised by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to manage the imminent situation efficiently and stay updated throughout the period of the maintenance.
